The Mission

As Thanksgiving approaches, I have been reflecting on how thankful I am for the past couple of months.

As many of you know, I am currently based in Hawaii where I am volunteering at a local ministry. Holoholo Ministries focuses on raising up the young locals of Hawaii and training them to become missionaries.

It’s a crazy proposition to take 10 students, most just out of high school, around the world to share the love of Jesus. And even crazier that the people leading them are all in their 20’s (except for me being 19). But that’s what Holoholo does!

The 12 disciples were likely in their 20s or younger when they put down their fishing nets and decided to follow Jesus wherever he went. So why do we think it’s impossible to do the same thing in 2024? Especially in this day in age, there is a pressing need for young people to learn to follow Jesus. And who can reach these young people better than their peers?

So here’s where I find myself. Walking alongside others my age and learning together what it looks like to fall in love with Jesus. Daily encouraging each other to live Godly lifestyles and in the process going out into the local community to practice what we’re learning.

Now, I have the privilege of following God in an outreach. In just two months, my team and I will be stepping out of our comfort zones to reach the unreached. We’ll be travelling to the Phillipines, Japan, and Thailand—not as tourists but as people ready and able to serve. Our only agenda is to show people what Jesus looks like.

Recently, a region named Bicol in the Philippines has experienced extreme flooding. With houses destroyed and lives lost. It has been wild to hear reports of Filipinos praising God amid the storm. Holoholo’s contacts in Bicol have sent updates saying they trust God despite the chaos. Visiting Bicol in a couple months, my team is excited to bring more help and support to this region! God is moving despite the tragedies!

Holoholo is a ministry that existed for decades before I joined and will continue for decades after I leave, but for this season of my life, I am grateful to play a part in its impact on the world.

With that, I am asking that you would consider donating towards this outreach. As I am living on full-time support, I need to raise all of my outreach money through donation.

If you would like to donate towards my personal outreach expenses, then you can use the link at https://holoholoministries.churchcenter.com/giving/to/project-2031

If you would like to donate towards supplies and aid for the Bicol region in the Philipines email me directly at katiearmstrong817@gmail.com

God bless,

Katie Armstrong 🙂
