Joy in motion: A month of dance and dicipleship

For three weeks in January and February, I had the honor of serving with the Holoholo DTS team in the Philippines. I thought I knew what to expect… I’ve been returning here for the past few years… but this outreach surprised me in the best way.

This year, half of the team was Polynesian.

The heart of Holoholo has always been to raise up Polynesians to follow Jesus and send them out to share His love with the nations. So watching that vision lived out, Polynesian leaders ministering boldly in the Philippines, was epi

And you know something Polynesians and Filipinos have in common?

They LOVE to dance.

From the storytelling of hula and siva to the Philippines’ love for hip-hop and performance, this outreach was filled with dance ministry everywhere we went — schools, churches, college campuses, elementary schools, even a government event (still not over that one… what?!).

I had the joy of teaching sign language dances to both the team and Filipino kids. I danced ballet in places I never imagined and watched Hawaiians and Filipinos learn from each other, using dance as a tool for discipleship and evangelism.

Dance isn’t just performance.

It’s celebration.
It’s connection.
It’s worship.

This trip reminded me that God created Filipinos to celebrate; to move, express joy, and gather. Who says life with God can’t be fun?

We were even given open doors by the governor of Naga City to minister in public schools. Every school. No restrictions. We shared the gospel openly and did altar calls at each one. Thousands of students raised their hands to pray a salvation prayer.

Thousands.

It was powerful. But more than that, it was joyful.

Every time I come to the Philippines, I see something new about how God sees this country. This year I saw celebration. I saw movement. I saw young leaders rising up… Filipino and Polynesian… stepping into ministry.

25 Years of Faithfulness

This year marks 25 years of Holoholo going to the Philippines.

Twenty-five years of showing up.
Twenty-five years of building relationships.
Twenty-five years of sowing seeds.

And now we’re watching a generation rise.

With so much hard happening in the world right now, I feel encouraged watching young Filipino and Polynesian leaders step boldly into ministry. There’s something powerful about cultures coming together… not just to perform, but to proclaim.

God isn’t done with the Philippines.

Not even close.

If this trip reminded me of anything, it’s this:

Every day with God is a gift.
Every day is a reason to celebrate.
And we get to invite others into that celebration.

What an honor.
